Batman Adventures Podcast is Batman as audio drama. The episodes are the stories themselves, moved along by narration and character dialogue rather than by anyone talking about them. A short promo for Nostalgia USA, the renamed Gazette from OldTimeRadioDVD.com, comes first, and then the featured presentation takes over. From there the mood changes a great deal from one story to the next. 'Batman The Under Dwellers' begins lightly, with Bruce insisting he saw a leprechaun and Alfred not quite convinced. Soon Alfred is bathing and feeding a small guest while protesting that he knows nothing of children. Beneath that runs something colder: a self-proclaimed king who sends children up to the street for 'pretties', calls them ungrateful little monsters, and threatens to send them back into the light. 'Batman POVs' moves to the police. Detective Bullock went into a sting without the rest of his team, and someone wants to know why. Officer Montoya and a rookie are drawn in, and the rookie's version of the Bat-Man, sparks flying from his fingertips, sounds more like legend than testimony. It closes on a squabble over who earned the collar. 'Batgirl To Dare The Darkness' is carried by a narrator, who finds Barbara Wilson hiding in costume on the Gotham docks at night. While she works at Wayne Tech, criminals flood into Gotham from other cities to join the Black Mask Gang, and the narration likens the fight to taking on the many-headed Hydra. By the close, Batgirl has smashed a mask to reveal Roman Sionis and tendered a resignation he is in no state to hear. The three-part Untold Legend Of Batman story is the most personal stretch. In 'Untold Legend Of Batman 1of3', Batman recalls a summer learning boxing and fingerprint identification from Harvey Harris, the first person to solve the secret of his double identity. 'Untold Legend Of Batman With Friends Like These 2of3' moves through his adolescence, Hudson University and a move from Wayne Manor to a penthouse, then closes on an anonymous promise to destroy everything that makes him who he is. 'Untold Legend Of Batman Man Behind The Mask 3of3' is narrated in part by the Commissioner, who remembers freezing the moment he finally stood face to face with the Batman. A listener sees Gotham through several sets of eyes: Alfred's, a rookie officer's, Batgirl's, and Batman's own as he looks back. Menace and dry wit sit side by side. For one connected story, take the three Untold Legend parts in order. For something that wraps up on its own, 'Batman POVs' is a clean place to start.
