Terms of Service
Last updated July 6, 2026
These terms govern your use of PlayNext (playnext.fm and related sites and apps). By using PlayNext you agree to them; if you don't agree, please don't use the service. We've tried to keep them short and readable.
1. What PlayNext is
PlayNext is operated by PlayNext Media Inc., a British Columbia corporation (incorporation number BC1601748) based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. In these terms, "we", "us", and "our" mean PlayNext Media Inc.
PlayNext is a podcast discovery service. It plays short excerpts of podcast episodes so you can decide what to listen to, and links you to the full episodes, the shows, and the places you can subscribe to them. Episode audio streams from each publisher's own hosting; PlayNext does not host podcast audio and does not offer downloads.
2. Using the service
You agree to use PlayNext only as a normal listener would. Specifically, you won't:
- scrape, crawl, or bulk-download content from the service, or use it to build a dataset or a competing catalogue;
- circumvent or probe the service's technical measures, including rate limits and our audio streaming infrastructure;
- interfere with the service's operation or other people's use of it; or
- use the service for anything unlawful.
We may suspend or block access that violates these terms, and we may change or discontinue features at any time — PlayNext is a young product and it moves quickly.
3. Accounts
Most of PlayNext works without an account; your taste profile lives in your own browser. Where accounts are offered, you agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials to yourself, and accept that we may close accounts that violate these terms.
4. Subscriptions and billing
PlayNext's core discovery feed is free. Some features are part of a paid subscription ("PlayNext Pro"). What Pro includes, and what it costs, is shown at the point of purchase — including the exact price, the currency, and the date you'll be charged. There are no hidden charges and no trial that converts silently.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or yearly, whichever you chose) until you cancel. You can cancel any time — from your profile's Subscription section, or via the manage link included in every receipt email; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for, and you keep Pro until then.
- Refunds. If you're unhappy with a charge, email [email protected] within 14 days of that charge and we'll refund it in full — no questions asked. Nothing in this section limits refund rights you have under the law where you live.
- Promotional pricing. Launch or promotional prices (such as founding-member pricing) stay yours for as long as your subscription remains continuously active. If you cancel and stay away for more than 30 days, the then-current standard price applies when you come back.
- Price changes. If a price changes, we'll tell you before it affects a renewal, with enough notice to cancel first.
- If your subscription ends. Your data is never deleted because a subscription lapses. Anything beyond the free tier's limits is locked, not destroyed, and unlocks again if you resubscribe.
Payments are processed by our payment partners; depending on your location, the partner may be the merchant of record for your purchase and applicable taxes may be added at checkout.
5. Podcast content belongs to its creators
Every show, episode, and piece of artwork on PlayNext belongs to the podcast's rights holders, not to us. We present short excerpts for the purpose of discovery, always with attribution and links back to the source, with audio streamed from the publisher's own servers. Rights holders can have their shows updated or removed at any time — see For podcasters and Copyright & DMCA.
6. AI-generated content
Clip selections, descriptions, reviews, and our topic and entity pages are generated by AI from episode transcripts, and topic hubs are written in the voice of clearly fictional hosts. This material is provided for discovery and entertainment; it can contain errors, and it is not advice of any kind. It does not represent the views of the podcasts it describes. If something is wrong, let us know.
7. Our content
The PlayNext name, site design, software, and the text we publish (apart from podcast content, which stays its creators') are ours. You may share links to PlayNext freely; please don't republish our pages at scale.
8. Third-party services
PlayNext links out to third parties — podcast publishers, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and others. Their sites and apps have their own terms and privacy practices, which we don't control.
9. Disclaimers
PlayNext is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including availability, accuracy, and fitness for a particular purpose. Podcast audio comes from servers we don't operate, so playback can fail for reasons outside our control.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PlayNext and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. To the same extent, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to CAD $50. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we'll make that visible on the site. Continuing to use PlayNext after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
