Copyright & DMCA

PlayNext exists to send listeners to podcasts, not to replace them. This page explains how we treat podcast rights, and how to reach us if you're a rights holder and want something changed or removed.
How PlayNext treats podcast content
- We play short excerpts — about a minute of an episode — selected to help listeners decide whether to hear the whole thing.
- Every excerpt is attributed and links to the full episode, the show, and subscribe options (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, RSS).
- Audio streams from the publisher's own hosting. We don't copy, re-host, or offer downloads of episodes, we don't modify the audio, and dynamically inserted ads play as the publisher serves them.
- Show names and artwork are used to identify the shows they belong to. All rights stay with their owners.
We believe this is good for creators — it's a trailer, with the box office pointed at you. But it's your show, and if you'd rather not be on PlayNext, we'll take it off.
The fast path for podcasters
If you are (or represent) a podcast's rights holder, you don't need a formal legal notice. Email [email protected] with your show's name and RSS feed URL and tell us what you want — removal, a fixed listing, updated artwork — and we'll handle it, normally within a few business days. More detail: For podcasters.
Formal copyright notices
To send a formal infringement notice (in the style of the U.S. DMCA or Canada's notice-and-notice regime), email [email protected] with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:
- identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
- the URL(s) on PlayNext where the material appears;
- your name, organization (if any), and contact details;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are, or are authorized to act for, the rights holder; and
- your physical or electronic signature.
We review every notice, remove or disable access to material that a valid notice identifies, and keep records of notices we receive.
Notices may also be sent by post to the operator of PlayNext:
PlayNext Media Inc.
PO Box 56007, Victoria RPO Admiral Walk
Victoria, BC V9A 7P4, Canada
Counter-notices and mistakes
If material you published was removed and you believe that was a mistake — for example, you're the podcaster and someone else requested the removal — email the same address with the URL and an explanation, and we'll sort it out.
Repeat infringement
Where PlayNext hosts user-submitted material (it mostly doesn't today), we terminate access for repeat infringers.
