Decoder Ring Theatre

Decoder Ring Theatre is a scripted, full-cast audio drama production, not an interview or commentary show. The sample consists entirely of sequential chapters from a single serial, "The Android Assassins," part of the show's long-running Red Panda series about a costumed vigilante operating in a retro-futurist 1930s Toronto. The narrative centers on August Fenwick (the Red Panda), who is captured and framed by the supervillain Captain Clockwork, revealed to also operate as "the Viper" in pursuit of an industrial takeover of the city during the Great Depression. While Fenwick is held prisoner, his partner Kit Baxter (the Flying Squirrel) organizes the Red Panda's network of field agents, aided by Dr. Chronopolis and recruits like Andy Parker, Tank Brody, and Mac Tully, to arm against Clockwork's mechanical army. Because the show is fully scripted fiction, there is no host in the conventional podcast sense and no real-world guests appear; the credited voices portray recurring fictional characters across episodes. Chapters end on cliffhangers and are built around serialized plotting, villain monologues, and tactical/action set pieces (android duplicates, magnetic grenades, a captured heat ray) rather than factual discussion. The production leans on classic pulp and superhero-radio conventions: hidden identities, corrupt conspiracies, and gadget-driven confrontations. Listeners who enjoy Golden Age radio pastiche, serialized pulp fiction, or superhero audio drama are the natural audience, following the story chapter to chapter rather than dropping into individual episodes. The show's other flagship series, the detective drama Black Jack Justice, is referenced in the source material but not represented in this episode sample. Overall the show functions as episodic-but-continuous fiction, closer to a radio play in installments than a talk or documentary podcast.
