A Date With Dateline · Kimberly and Katie - ADWDL

Deadly Entanglement S.33 Ep.19

·1 hr 46 min·5 clips
Scott stood outside with a gun while his wife lay dying inside, then told himself 'no tears' in the interrogation room.
The mess announces itself early. Kimberly and Katie frame Washington state as a place they did not expect to find this much personal chaos, then briefly mistake it for cow country because apparently geography has also been subpoenaed. The hosts are ready to call the situation messy almost right away. The recap follows Desiree, Scott, Paige, and Dylan Williams, whose name arrives with a warning label that feels late and loud. Paige says Dylan hates both Scott and Desiree and has violent tendencies. That claim gets picked apart fast, because her example is a self-defense shooting. As evidence, that is shaky. As gossip, it lands like someone tossing a lit match onto the table. The hosts stop on the logic. If fighting back when attacked makes someone violent, then half the world just wandered into the suspect pool. Dylan still gets checked. Investigators learn he was home the night of the murder, owns guns but not the caliber used to kill Desiree, and has an alibi. So Dylan leaves the board. Then comes the paternity twist: Paige gives birth, Dylan asks for a test, and the baby is his rather than Scott's. The case mostly shrugs at the baby. Blaine says it does not matter to the investigation, which sounds useful on paper and emotionally bizarre in the recap. The texts matter more. Once investigators get the messages between Desiree and Paige, the friendship, the power dynamic, and the lying start coming through the phone screen. Scott gets crowned a lying liar. Paige earns the crown too, while Desiree seems to have been kept in the dark about far too much. The smallest detail hurts most. Desiree calls Paige her only close girlfriend, and the hosts immediately think about every other close girlfriend who probably thought that spot was theirs. It is sad, then it spirals. They wonder whether Desiree meant it sweetly, strategically, or because Paige had some strange pull over her. The uncertainty is the awful part.
