About Tekstbehandlingsprogrammet
Tekstbehandlingsprogrammet is a literature show with the atmosphere of a seminar that escaped into Radio Nova. It is curious, quick, and lightly chaotic. The program talks about books, essays, authors, language, reading habits, and the social life around literature without flattening them into tidy culture coverage. A conversation can begin with a formal topic and still find its way through jokes, mini-quizzes, self-correction, and a small argument about what words are allowed to carry. That looseness is part of the point. The show is not afraid of sounding like people thinking in real time. Its interview episodes can be patient and substantial, as in the discussion with UiO Professor Bruce Barnhart about American literature, canon formation, representation, popular fiction, and what gets left off a syllabus. Its studio episodes are more mischievous. The panel reviews its own Instagram presence, weighs memes against clarity, stages a “can you become a text handler” initiation, and asks which classics people feel they should have read. There are literary name-drops, but also admissions of not reading the thing everyone assumes has been read. That makes the show approachable. It is nerdy without being precious. It is self-aware without turning cynical. The “open category” episodes show how easily the program can pivot from winter sports wording to philosophy, democracy, nature, the sun, and invented transactions. The essay episode on masculinity shows a sharper side, using one text to examine language, gender ideals, and everyday precision. The tone can be blunt, but the intellectual frame remains playful. Tekstbehandlingsprogrammet works best for listeners who enjoy literature as conversation: unfinished, funny, opinionated, and full of detours that somehow still circle back to the page.
Made for: For Norwegian-speaking listeners who like books, essays, Radio Nova culture, and literary arguments that still leave room for banter. It especially suits people who enjoy hearing readers think out loud instead of performing certainty.
What sets it apart: The show’s edge is its mix of literary seriousness and self-mocking Radio Nova looseness. It can interview a professor about canon politics, then turn around and critique its own memes, unread classics, and awkward public-facing identity.
