Nuestra Voz

Nuestra Voz is a Costa Rican civic-affairs program concerned with how democracy is actually lived: through elections, public institutions, administrative systems, roads, pensions, security, and the everyday capacity of the state to deliver. Its pace is deliberate. Recent episodes show a program working around an election season, asking why many citizens remain undecided, what campaign proposals mean in practice, and how voters can move from uncertainty toward an informed decision. The conversations are formal, but not sealed off from ordinary concerns. A discussion of political advertising or digital manipulation becomes a question about the health of democratic debate. A proposal about pension withdrawals becomes a question about future quality of life. A debate over public works becomes a question about deaths on the roads and visible failures in execution. The program gives substantial time to guests and analysts, allowing them to explain procedures, definitions, risks, and institutional responsibilities at length. That structure can feel demanding, but it is part of the show’s identity. Nuestra Voz is less interested in quick reaction than in public explanation. The recent material ranges from campaign dynamics around Álvaro Ramos and Laura Fernández Delgado to legislative debates over the ROP, possible failures or strengths in the CAJA’s ERP system, and proposals to close or reorganize parts of the state. It also looks beyond Costa Rica, following Venezuela, Colombia, the United States, China, migration, rare earths, and the pressures created by strategic resources. The show’s center remains civic judgment. It keeps returning to political will, institutional design, and the citizen’s need to understand before choosing. For listeners who prefer public radio with long answers, careful framing, and a serious respect for democratic participation, Nuestra Voz offers a steady forum for making complicated public questions legible.
