Breakdown of Davis Aurini's Matrix 4 Review

April 14, 2022·57 min·5 clips
Gilbert Gottfried risked his career by joking about 9/11 the day after it happened.
The opening comes in crooked. A fake network tag, half a song, weekend-listener banter, and conspiracy jokes pile up before the room reaches Gilbert Gottfried's death. For a minute, the mood settles. The panel talks through why 9-11 jokes mattered then, and how the public mood after the attacks became punitive, politically ugly, and almost religiously serious. That seriousness does not hold for long. Once the movie comes up, Robert is stranded as the only person who has actually seen it, which gives everyone else room to ask whatever they want. Cody brings in Davis Serini, and even the name becomes part of the bit, with the panel bouncing between Leo, David, and Davis while trying to identify the guy behind the video. The target is extremely online. Cody describes him as an early alt right figure, a long-running YouTube presence, and someone whose current videos barely draw views. The visual roasting gets ruthless: the skull prop, the leather vest, the Canadian military reenactor vibe, the outfits that make him seem permanently in costume. But the joke has a point. They are not only dunking on one video. They are pointing at an older reactionary YouTube style that still feels trapped in 2011. H bomber guy comes up as the better primer. By the end, they send listeners toward those videos for context, announce a two-week break, and keep joking while files are being sent. The episode falls apart in the usual Worst Year Ever way, messy on purpose, like friends staring at a strange internet fossil and remembering why it used to be so irritating.
