2025 Update - Part 1

April 25, 2025·26 min·1 clip
Josh describes Lightning Falls as a 230,000-word novel about a woman named Jenny returning to northeastern Oregon with forgotten memories and adult content she hides from her mother.
April 2025 gets crowded fast. Josh starts plainly: he is the writer of Weeping Cedars, Samite, and Rod of Amber, and there is a lot to keep straight. First up is the Kickstarter. He asks listeners to go to weepingcedars.com, click the Kickstarter link, and save the reminder before the campaign opens on May 13. That date matters because the campaign is tied to Rod of Amber Season 3, e-books, signed copies, and higher-tier extras like Lightning Falls stickers. The publishing side is still new to him. IngramSpark, Findaway Voices, and Amazon Kindle are all part of the route, so he leaves room for bumps and delays without dressing it up. His comfort comes from talking with people who have done this before, and from a plan to keep delays as small as he can. Then Shards of Amber takes over. It shows the balance he is trying to strike: plenty stays free, but paid supporters still get something real. Of 16 stories, 12 will be free on Patreon, even for people who are not paid members. The last four stay held back. Josh admits some are favorites without making the cheap pitch that only paid readers get the good stuff. The collection looks forward to where characters are now and backward to who they were before the story drew them in. By the end, the update loosens up. Reddit is where he wants questions. Older discussion spaces get brushed off with dry self-mockery. The community still does not get a name. The ask is small but blunt: if enough listeners put in even a little, Weeping Cedars has a better shot at reaching people outside the current circle.
