We're Alive: Descendants - Chapter 16 - Train Through the Pain - Part 1 of 3

May 6, 2025·48 min·4 clips
The only immune survivor in the world grapples with the burden of his unique gift and its implications.
Nick and Will continue their dangerous journey south through infected territory, with Nick demonstrating exceptional marksmanship against first-generation infected while Will struggles with withdrawal symptoms from his time in captivity. Their conversation reveals key world-building details about the United America (UA) territories east of the Mississippi River and Westport's impressive defensive capabilities. Nick shares that he is immune to infection, a rare trait that has been extensively tested but cannot be replicated in others. As they progress, they discover they are severely behind schedule to catch a crucial train, leading them to suspect their allies may have intentionally given them an impossible timeline. The situation becomes more dire when they encounter the aftermath of a massacre where UA contractors were ambushed by infected, including a massive muckraker whose thick skin proved resistant to bullets. Will's technical knowledge proves valuable as he identifies the territorial behavior of advanced infected and later discovers he can repair an abandoned car using parts from the battle site. Meanwhile, in a parallel storyline, Vera undergoes intensive training with a mysterious family organization, learning skills in lock-picking, disguise, knife-throwing, encryption, and deception under the tutelage of Vincent and other instructors. Her training reveals the complex politics within the organization and hints at larger changes coming to their world. The episode ends with Nick and Will facing a new threat as a massive muckraker appears near the garage where their repaired car waits, forcing them to consider whether they must fight the creature to continue their mission.

As heard by us

A shattered scene turns into a practical lesson in survival.

This episode stays grounded in the bodies, the IDs, the smashed truck, and the hard fact that the infected and the UA people were torn apart together.
