Ma'am, this is Alaska

December 28, 2023·37 min·3 clips
Audrey's gut screams at her to run as the person she trusted to bring propane begins leading her into the dark in the same unsettling pattern as the opening scene.
The cold wins early. A car argument goes sour fast: correction, defensiveness, and one very bad choice sitting in the passenger seat. Someone gets out anyway. Pride looks pretty thin when home is miles away and the weather feels personal. Later, the episode lets the room breathe a little. Audrey and Izzy trade bad jokes, birthday teasing, and the kind of sharp comments that make the place feel lived in, not staged. The dread keeps humming under it. A question about unhappiness turns gentler than expected, right before the propane level drags everyone back to the less romantic problem of staying warm. Rhett arrives with papers and an eager need to be useful. He explains the little arrow stickers, offers to haul propane from town, and generally behaves like someone being almost too helpful. Izzy catches the vibe. Audrey files it under small community politeness, while Izzy keeps poking at it with city suspicion. Then the outhouse bit does its job. Bears, septic trouble, low propane, and a small place handling small place problems all make Rhett checking outside sound normal enough. Until it doesn't. A voice outside pulls the scene away from household mess and toward someone who might be Marcus, or might be worse. Everett hears his name. The call lands clean, and the offer to come see something turns a practical visit into a line nobody should cross. Then the ads cut in. It almost feels rude, which works. The story has just made ordinary life unsafe, then steps away for a minute.
