It’s Bigger Than Iran with Joshua Philipp

April 9, 2026·59 min·5 clips
The war with Iran is six weeks old, but what was it really about beyond stopping nuclear weapons?
The war with Iran sets the stage. The host opens by asking what the conflict was really about, then ties it to President Trump's claim that Iran's nuclear-weapons capacity was the target. He starts with the numbers: Iran is described as holding more than 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%, far above the 2 to 5% level named for civilian power. The bomb threshold is treated as the red line. From there, the conversation leaves Iran and moves into corruption, cartels, traffickers, and geopolitical danger. China becomes the through line. The guest describes mafia-style tactics and weaponized corruption, arguing that the CCP can capture civil society through criminal systems. Cartels are not treated as ordinary street crime. In parts of Latin America, the guest says people who stand against cartels can be killed, which leaves governments pressured to tolerate or work with them. Mexico is the main example. Entire rural communities are described as places where cartels act like the government, the schools, the hospitals, and the local economy. Corruption, in this telling, becomes the structure everything runs through. If someone controls the corruption, the guest argues, that person effectively controls the country, even if flags and elections are still there. Then the China link gets tighter. The guest says Chinese networks supply precursor chemicals for fentanyl, methamphetamine, and every major drug, while also handling money laundering, ports, and shipments. Iran comes back through narco-terror involvement. Money for terrorism is described as moving through the same channels, tying drugs, trafficking, and terrorism together. The tone stays grave and direct. The episode treats corruption, cartels, Iran, and China as parts of the same fight, not separate issues. The close shifts to the giveaway. After thanking the guest, the host offers The Calling to Manhood and frames confusion about men and women as another cultural front where listeners need to recover a biblical sense of purpose.

The episode begins with the war with Iran and the claim that it was meant to break Iran's ability to make nuclear weapons. It then moves quickly into uranium enrichment, cartel tactics, and Chinese influence, keeping a tight, urgent line through the discussion.
