Farewell (Part II) - The Tower Finale

November 26, 2025·35 min·3 clips
Ike tells Kiri her consciousness was spread across the tower, and they've been waiting for her return.
The episode opens with an older voice reflecting on seeing the tower for the first time, climbing it, and then spending decades trying to escape its pull. This voice describes moving away, building a family, finding happiness, but never fully escaping the tower's return in dreams. Kiri, meanwhile, loses contact with Ike through what sounds like a blizzard during a phone call. She attempts to reach him through a different number and reaches a woman who pretends not to know where Kiri is, appearing to be covering for Ike's absence. Kiri then reaches Ike's phone, which is being tested by an unknown person at the tower base. At the summit, Kiri finally encounters Ike directly and he explains his nature: his consciousness was distributed across the tower when the original builders completed their climb centuries ago. The builders abandoned sleep, tools, and safety to finish the tower in a state of collective obsession. What they found at the top was an undisturbed, unmolded new world. Ike tells Kiri that a version of her has always been there — across different lifetimes and identities, she has repeatedly climbed the tower and been brought back. Only one person has ever descended and it nearly destroyed them. Kiri asks why she left before. Ike cannot or will not say. He presents her with the final choice: stay in the new world, or go back down. Leaving means the builders fail permanently and the tower fades. Staying means never returning to her old life. Ike, when pressed to speak as his original self rather than as a tower entity, admits he listened to how Kiri speaks about the people she loves and could not leave that behind. He reflects that the builders tried to fix the world with the tower and failed — but that the imperfect world below is still full of people trying to live. At this moment, Chris arrives at the base of the tower and calls up to Kiri, refusing to let her go. His speech is a direct declaration of love. Kiri ultimately chooses to descend. A brief epilogue shows her donating the manual to a professor and agreeing to help finish it, implying the cycle will continue with a new climber.
