Pelennor also ignores another damsel in distress, and Merlin says the dead woman was Pelennor's own daughter. 12. Arthur, King Uriens, and Ser Acheron of Gaul chase a great hart through a forest until their horses fall under them. 13. They find a barge draped in silk and gold, lit by 100 torches, and served by 12 fair damsels who give them a feast. 14. Arthur wakes in a dark dungeon with groaning knights who have been imprisoned there for seven years and longer. 15. The prisoners say Sir Damas is merciless, while Sir Outslake is loved because he holds the inheritance and is treated unjustly. 16. Arthur agrees to fight Damas so the captives can be freed, and a damsel who claims to be Damas's daughter brings him horse and armour. 17. The narration later identifies that damsel as one of Morgan le Fay's enchantresses, turning the offer into a deliberate trap. 18. A dwarf then gives Acheron Excalibur and the scabbard from Morgan le Fay and tells him to fight without mercy. 19. Vivien, the Lady of the Lake, arrives at the field as Arthur and Acheron trade blows with false and true swords. 20. Arthur learns who Acheron is, grants mercy, and then faces another warning when Morgan le Fay sends a jeweled mantle that the Lady of the Lake tells him not to wear.
