Storytime With Raheem, Friday WBC, and Conference Tourney Updates | The Ringer Gambling Show

March 13, 2026·57 min·5 clips
Raheem Palmer's car exploded in a casino parking lot while he was inside winning a Bucks bet—and instead of leaving, he used the near-death experience to bet his life savings on the Toronto Raptors winning the championship.
Raheem shows up sore but in good form. Sal treats Friday the 13th and Raheem's collision like the perfect excuse to find winners anyway, which is about as solemn as this room gets. Raheem says the whole thing left him feeling like none of this really matters. Somehow that lands as life perspective parked right beside gambling talk. Very on brand. The betting starts with totals, pitching matchups, Japan, Venezuela, and roster nitpicking that begins straight-faced and ends at a Wolverines flag. Italy catches the stray. The panel keeps poking at national-team logic, especially when the lineup sounds more Detroit than Italy, while still acting like the details matter enough to bet. Then the show gets back to work. Conference tournaments are rolling, the NBA board is sitting there, and the picks keep coming without anyone pretending the whole thing is a lab. A joke about an electrician-pitcher with a 78-mile-an-hour heater somehow fits right next to the total on Japan and Venezuela. Sal keeps nudging the table along. When the Buffalo news bit lands, Josh Allen's jersey-number gag gets handled like a fake emergency before Dabundo turns it into an AFC joke. The card still gets its respect. By the end, they are back on picks, including UCLA plus five and a half, Dominican Republic minus four and a half, and Bulls-Clips over 234 and a half. Raheem's return gives the episode its frame, but the fun is how the life story, the unlucky-day bit, and the urge to keep firing all sit at the same table.
