Bible Guys Classics: Galatians 2

March 3, 2026·24 min·2 clips
Paul publicly rebukes Peter for withdrawing from Gentile Christians when Jewish leaders arrived, calling it hypocrisy.
Paul is the center here. The passage puts him in the uncomfortable spot of calling out Peter because Peter's behavior is steering Gentiles toward Jewish tradition. The reading carries most of the weight. One host walks through the long stretch where Paul says people are made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. It lands hard. The other host answers with the kind of quick, amused awe that suits the show: big doctrine, small joke, back to the text. They know the passage is dense. It moves from tension over Gentiles and Jewish traditions into the larger claim that rebuilding the old law system misses what Christ has already done. Paul gets personal quickly. He says his old self has been crucified with Christ, then ties ordinary life to trusting the Son of God. The guys leave some rough edges in, which helps. They stop on how Paul writes for a specific purpose because of what is happening in that city, while still saying something that reaches past that moment. That is where they are best. Scripture feels like a live conversation. There is some ribbing too. When one host says there is great stuff in the chapter, the other hears the accidental suggestion that some chapters might not be great. The joke eases the pressure, then they return to the central contrast: grace only means something if Christ's death changes how people stand before God. The close stays simple. They let Paul's line about the Son of God loving him and giving himself for him do the heavy work.
