Rob & Akiva Ask Why the Listeners Don't Have a Big Guest Yet? | RAANAP Non-Canonical

·43 min·4 clips

Rob and Akiva confront why their listeners haven't delivered a promised big guest, leaving the podcast in limbo.

Rob and Akiva open the episode by explaining that the wheel spin landed on 'listeners' big guest,' but no guest has been secured. They detail the process: listeners were to submit ideas via a form to staffer Derek, but only one submission came in. Akiva shares a text from Derek confirming the lack of responses. The hosts debate whether the listeners lack connections or if the messaging was unclear. They brainstorm ideal guests, with Rob suggesting Elon Musk for buzz, though acknowledging potential backlash. Akiva mentions family vacation constraints affecting scheduling. Rob reveals that Sam, who previously booked Michael Emerson, seems smug about their struggle, urging listeners to 'stick it to Sam.' They discuss guest criteria, agreeing a Wikipedia page is mandatory. The hosts list possible D-list celebrities like Bobby Moynihan, John Wayne Bobbitt, and Octo Mom, evaluating their suitability. They consider committing to no new episodes until a guest is found, comparing it to the movie Con Air. The conversation shifts to logistics: an improv troop episode may follow a celebrity stories episode, and census questions are being prepared. Akiva shows items from his wife's childhood room, including Mets bobbleheads, which leads to joking about athletes as guests. They reiterate contact methods for listeners and end with promotional content for Rob's Survivor book.
