Rewind with Karen & Georgia - 85: Live at the Boulder Theater

February 25, 2026·1 hr 32 min·5 clips
John Argue's niece tells a Denver Post reporter her uncle confessed: just become their friend, then kill them.
The rewind opens in network mode. Before Karen and Georgia settle in, ads for Exactly Right shows crowd the front door: movies, music business stories, con-artist comeuppance. Then the friends snap back into the room. They are revisiting a story, and the excerpt catches them mid-riff on whether someone had killed before. The tone stays loose and sideways. A grim detail becomes a hair-parting makeover bit, a cat-in-hands image, and a strangely soft alternate version of a guy. Nobody tries to make it tidy. They stop to ask for updates, admit they do not have any, and still tell listeners to send hometown connections. That looseness is doing the work. The case is serious, but the fun is in how they react, where a phone book turns into a phone tree and caution somehow ends up funny. Then Karen perks up. Her next story starts with her obvious fascination: a creepy guy hiding in an attic. Georgia knows the type right away. She calls out Karen's thing for people in walls, closets, and overhead spaces, which makes the fear feel like an old shared bit. The attic riff keeps climbing. Karen swears she would have heard something, then immediately undercuts herself by admitting she may be better at instincts in theory than in real life. Very on-brand. The laugh works because the anxiety, true-crime curiosity, and absurd surveillance fantasy all fit in the same cramped little room. The ending slips back to ads, so the excerpt feels part episode, part network hallway.

As heard by us

A loose Boulder Theater rewind leans into Theodore Edward Coneys' attic horror with jokes, unease, and no clean update.

Karen and Georgia revisit their Boulder Theater show with the loose, slightly giddy energy that makes My Favorite Murder feel like a conversation you wandered into at exactly the wrong moment.
