Writing Contest Winning Stories

November 10, 2025·31 min·5 clips
LOL Storytime opens with a special episode built around the winners of its storywriting contest. The regular Monday story will be out later today in a separate episode. The host thanks the participants and congratulates the winners. The first story comes from the youngest age group and is called "Saving the Camping Survival Book" by Griffin Wilcox. Teacher Mr. Crabb gave his sea creature pupils a book about how to survive by yourself if you get lost in the wilderness whilst camping. The book was called the Camping Survival Book, and it had everything you needed to do to help set up for camping on your own. Mr. Crabb told them that this was an extra special book, as it was the last survival book left in their school, so they had to really look after it. Martin the Jellyfish, Jack the Seahorse, and Claire the Pufferfish were given the book first to study. They had to do a project on it and present it to the class at school the next day. Claire, Jack, and Martin had been friends since year two and were happy to have the book to study together. Although they were all very different, they got along very well and liked doing projects together. They were especially keen to do this one as they really wanted to go camping together soon. The trio took the book on their swim home. The next winning story sends Ian and Nye toward a volcano in search of dragon fire breath. Mr. Green Dragon says they need to earn the bottle before he will hand it over. The price is a song to put him to sleep, so the kids start singing with a revised dragon-and-cockatoo lyric. The song works, and the dragon falls asleep in time with the tune. Ian spots a little glowing bottle of yellowish, lime flame in the dragon's brown bag and passes it to Nye. The pair keeps walking, gets bored, and heads up a tall yellow tree. Nye is scared of heights, but she copies Ian and jumps down after him when he goes first. The last winning story settles down with James and Alice at Grandma's house for tea and chocolate biscuits. Mom says there is still time to get to the park, but the kids ask for one more cup of tea. The episode closes with thanks to everyone who took part and to everyone who listened.

As heard by us

A playful contest set with sea creatures, a singing dragon, and tea and biscuits.

LOL Storytime gives its contest winners a playful run: a sea-creature crew works through a camping survival book, a dragon swaps fire breath for a song, and the finish lands on tea and biscuits. What holds it together is the willingness to let each tale follow its own kid logic.
