Joe asks the wizard if they really need all these spells, risking everything to challenge their easy life.
Potions and spells are everywhere. Joe and Hannah grow up in a village where magical fixes feel as normal as phones, tablets, microwaves, and cars. Nobody gives them much thought. A kind wizard started out helping people stay healthy and safe, then the village slowly ended up with a potion for every tiny inconvenience. The joke keeps stretching. Magical shortcuts act like everyday gadgets until the story starts poking at a bigger problem: what happens when nobody remembers how to do simple things? Joe becomes the kid willing to find out. He learns ordinary tasks the slow way, including the extremely useful fact that underwear does not go on last. Hannah notices. She asks why doing things the hard way does not leave him totally flattened, and Joe is a little puzzled too. It is tiring. It is also somehow better. That answer gets to her. She tries drinking water by herself, spills it, coughs a bit, and still decides it is cool. Reading gets tested next. Hannah wants a spoiler potion so she can jump straight to the ending, especially with chicken bandits threatening the hero's world. Joe stops her. Waiting is part of the fun, even when the words make Hannah's head wobble. The point stays wrapped in silliness. Help is useful, but skipping every struggle also skips surprise, pride, suspense, and the goofy satisfaction of doing it yourself. By the end, the running joke still lands: of course somebody can announce that there is a potion for that.
