The Butler - A Funny Story for Kids

The episode opens with a holiday break note. Listeners are told last year's top story will be replayed, and this year's replay will be chosen by vote at LOLStorytime.com. The story with the most votes will air on December 29. Then the story gets going. Andy wants money, but not just any money. He wants Game Bucks, because those are the only kind that matter to him. He asks his mom for some cash. She gives him a quarter. Andy points out that a quarter does not buy much, and certainly not a video game hat. So he looks for another way to earn. He ends up taking a job as a butler for Tessa. Tessa waves him off and hands him a very strange list of chores that sounds normal for about half a second. The list asks him to tidy Tessa's room, take Tessa's bike for a ride, send a message to one of Tessa's friends, do Tessa's homework, practice the piano, and prepare a healthy snack. Then it gets weirder. He is also supposed to switch the healthy snack for a piano, make a piece of cake with triple icing and extra sprinkles, and go play tag with the neighborhood kids while telling everyone he is Tessa. If he is embarrassingly bad at tag, he is supposed to call himself Bob instead. Andy does what the list says. None of it is especially hard, just a little odd. When he reports back, he is careful and polite. Tessa acts exhausted and talks like she has spent the whole day doing homework and running around with the neighborhood kids. She takes a bite of a cracker and offers one to Andy. That leaves him wondering if crackers are his real pay. The story keeps the joke going by treating all of this like a normal butler arrangement. It ends with a question for listeners about what they would ask a butler to do.
