DRAFT STEAL? D'Angelo Ponds Can Accelerate New York Jets Secondary Rebuild in NFL Draft

April 9, 2026·30 min·2 clips
A 5'9" cornerback from Indiana could be the Jets' perfect second-round pick despite his size.
The second round gets most of the attention here. Jon B. lays out three prospects who should matter to the Jets, with pick 33 treated as a real chance to add talent, not just fill a need. Casey Concepcion, from Texas A&M, gets the longest look because the host thinks he could be there when the Jets pick, and maybe even after a small move down. The receiver discussion is the clearest part. The host pushes back on the idea that the room has to be assembled like a perfect puzzle around Garrett Wilson. A clean outside X who lets Wilson move to Z or the slot sounds nice, and he does not brush that aside. He just does not want the Jets passing on a better player because another option looks neater on paper. Adonai Mitchell is the warning sign. The host says Mitchell may grow through the offseason program and training camp, but he has not proven it yet. That makes the choice feel pretty simple: take the receiver who can play, not the one whose traits make the depth chart look tidy. The defensive back thread stays in the mix too. The open points to a West Coast defensive back who fits much of what Aaron Glenn wants, except for one limitation, and a smaller Indiana corner who plays bigger than his size. The closing comes back to the board. At 44, the two corners could make sense. Concepcion at 33 is more of a tempting swing than a must-pick.
