Become A Teacher Without Going To Teaching School And Make A Fortune With Online Courses

·33 min·2 clips
Chris Badgett says every lesson starts with a repeatable teaching framework: welcome, problem, story, challenges, promises, principles, model, worksheet, review.
Chris makes teaching the center, with marketing in its proper seat. He starts with the mistake a lot of course creators make: they get fired up about selling, technology, and having an online course before the lesson itself knows what it is doing. His promise is blunt. You can become a teacher without teaching school if you learn how to shape the learner's motivation and next move. He calls out the expert's curse, because knowing the subject can make it harder to remember what the student needs first. Part of learning, in his view, is getting someone to see the problem differently, find a strategy, or have a shift. The lesson starts with enrollment. Chris lays out a welcome statement, a high-level problem statement, a story, three challenges, and three promises for the front end of a lesson. This is where teaching borrows from copywriting. Here, agitating the pain works as teaching: it helps the learner feel why the lesson matters. Then come principles. Chris likes five core principles, crediting Dan Martell for the hot-principles idea, because principles teach people how to think before they follow steps. In the back pain example, strengthening the back challenges the idea that stretching, massage, cracking, popping, or chiropractic is the whole fix. The model follows that mindset shift. Then come worksheets, action steps, support, and the scaffolding that turns an idea into paid training. Chris keeps pulling the conversation back to the product: a course has to enroll, reframe, teach, and ask the learner to act. He also connects teaching to distribution, since a YouTube clip can share the problem, challenges, and principles while keeping the exercises and support inside the paid course.
