Marty Supreme & Heated Rivalry with Ethan Hawke & Vinny Thomas

January 7, 2026·1 hr 25 min·7 clips
Louis Fertel welcomes guest host Vinnie Thomas from 'Platonic' to discuss Drag Race's oversaturation and the appeal of older queens.
Drag Race is back. Louis Fertel opens a new Keep It year by asking what could possibly be left to say after starting in 2018, then answers himself by finding plenty. Vinnie Thomas steps into guest-host mode, and the first stretch is pure side-eye logistics. Louis and Vinnie turn camera angles, good sides, and viewer discomfort into a tiny vanity trial. The bit moves fast. Before it can get too organized, the conversation snaps toward Drag Race and whether Vinnie follows the show at all. Then the canon fight starts. A ranking of important gay television begins with Will & Grace, helped along by Joe Biden as cultural evidence. CatDog refuses to stay out of it. Vinnie argues for it with total conviction, and somehow the joke turns into a Silver Lake gay answer to Will & Grace as Pete Buttigieg gay. Weirdly, it works. The list keeps shifting as Queer as Folk, Sense8, Pose, and Heated Rivalry pass through the serious but unserious court. Then Monsters Inside Me shows up. The parasite documentary gets treated as obvious gay culture, because this show is at its best when a bizarre answer lands like everyone should have known it already. The Voice gets picked apart too. The point is that gay contestants reach for the female pop star while Blake Shelton gets left off to the side. That turns into a full thesis: so many contestants, no one breaking out famous, and the whole format as gay yearning. Glee brings it home. Gwyneth Paltrow singing Party all the time sends the hosts back into high school unreality, where the only reasonable conclusion is that the show was basically a documentary.

As heard by us

A loose, funny queer TV ranking sprint where CatDog and The Voice somehow make the canon.

Keep It! comes back for 2026 in full overtalk mode, with Louis Fertel and Vinny Thomas turning a pop culture check-in into a proudly unserious queer TV canon draft.
