LTP Cozies Up with Classics: Little Women

Jacqueline reveals she hates Amy in Little Women because she recognizes her own flaws in the character.
Little Women arrives already mid-bit. Megan and Jacqueline start with scary-little confusion, Lori loving Joe, and spoiler panic so fast it feels like part of the furniture. Then Megan picks up the book thread. Her connection begins with a public library copy from Riverton, checked out sometime between sixth and eighth grade and, apparently, never quite returned. Very on-brand trouble. That memory gives the episode its pulse: childhood affection rubbing up against adult rereading, with a little guilt still stuck between the pages. The novel still matters to her, but it does not land as cleanly now. She liked it as a kid, then reread it before the 2019 movie and found herself less sure, which is usually where the good conversation starts. The 1994 adaptation gets the warm blanket treatment: pretty, shiny, Christmassy, loyal to the book, and built to make you feel okay. Except Joe cutting her hair still wrecks them. The crying starts there, because cozy does not mean harmless. Christian Bale sends them into a Batman detour, and somehow it fits. These actors carry other memories with them, so Little Women ends up sharing shelf space with everything else the hosts already love. The 1994 movie stays liked: cute, familiar, full of known faces, and easy to defend. Then 2019 slips ahead. They prefer the version that asks for more thought, more feeling, and less Christmas card gloss. Nobody tosses 1994 aside. The split is simple: one movie comforts you, the other keeps bothering you later.
