Divisional Round Recap

January 21, 2026·59 min·5 clips
Kirk Cousins' contract renegotiation could force the Falcons into a $90 million cap hit in 2027.
The divisional round is finished. With three meaningful games left, the show moves fast from playoff housekeeping into a coaching cycle full of familiar names. Dennis gets the handoff early, and John Harbaugh, Kevin Stefanski, Jeff Ulbrich, Jeff Hafley, and Robert Saleh all enter the shuffle. The Titans job gets the hardest side-eye. That spot sounds rough, and the host still cannot quite make sense of why Saleh would pick it, even if both sides apparently liked the conversation. Miami gets a cooler response. Jeff Hafley going to the Dolphins sounds less like a win than a hire fans online met with a shrug. Atlanta gets one interesting wrinkle: keeping Jeff Ulbrich as defensive coordinator gives that job something to chew on. Then Buffalo takes over. Sean McDermott comes off as a very good coach who hit the point where steady playoff trips were not enough anymore. The Tony Dungy comparison works because the argument is not that McDermott was a disaster. It is that a team can be good for years and still need a different closer. Brandon Beane catches heat next. The frustration here is pretty direct: did Buffalo give Josh Allen a true ace receiver and enough defensive help? Allen's legacy gets messier. Around 29 and in his eighth season, he is tied tightly to McDermott's run and to whatever Buffalo does next. The practical questions matter most now: who coaches him, who catches the ball, and whether the defense holds up. The close loosens up with a DJ Moore jab, an AFC championship pick tease, and a Fernando Mendoza fan-fiction joke for Raiders fans.
