Pastor Rod explains how to discern if a sickness is demonic or merely physical.
Pastor Rod comes back grateful, and a little worn down. The opening has the feel of ordinary pastoral care, with the others asking about his recovery and naming prayer, weakness, and God's kindness in the timing. His mind stayed sharp. His body and voice took longer after a sickness that did not land on Easter weekend. Then the conversation gets heavier. A question pushes the pastors into spiritual discernment, especially when suffering might look medical, spiritual, or somehow both. They do not act as if certainty is simple. One answer stays cautious and prayerful, asking the Lord for deliverance if something darker is involved. Western instincts get a gentle challenge. The pastors know measurable explanations can feel safer to people trained to trust scientific categories first. They still make room for medicine. They also argue that Scripture does not let believers flatten the world into only what can be tested. Prayer is treated as more than a last resort. Closeness to Christ, the host suggests, may sharpen discernment instead of merely deepening religious feeling. Holiness becomes practical, not abstract. The closer someone is to the Lord, the better prepared that person may be to recognize God's work and the opposition against it. The closing prayer pulls it together. God is named as sovereign Lord and creator, the one before whom every person has an appointment. The mood is sober, but not panicked. The prayer asks for a church that is ready, watchful, and shaped by Scripture when that day comes.
