The Shoe of The Summer Is Flip Flop (Todd Glass, Charlie McCrackin, Stephanie Burchinow)

·1 hr 28 min·1 clip
Meet the only comedian who adjusts every light, drape, and AC vent at every venue.
Scott Aukerman opens by thanking Pure Guava for an old catchphrase and then naming Pure Guava the catchphrase superstar. Todd Glass arrives as the first guest, and Scott says the two of them have known each other for 31 years. That number immediately becomes its own joke about how long anything can keep going. Todd and Scott start trying to guess how many times he has been on the show, with the guesses hovering around the 10-timers and 11-timers club. From there, the conversation slides into a Joe's Pub bow tie rule. Todd explains that wearing one used to make the show seem better, and says people in bow ties would get guided toward the first two rows. The bit gets even sillier when the bow tie is being carried instead of worn. Scott refuses to let that pass as a minor detail, so it becomes a tiny seating-code moral argument. Todd also plugs March 5th, 6th, and 7th at Joe's Pub, and Scott keeps the mood loose enough that the plug feels like part of the joke. A break comes in, and Scott says a substitute teacher and a psychic are coming up. When the show returns, he says he and Todd had a deep conversation during the break. By the end, the psychic is taking predictions about creeps and priests, landing at 47 percent in the world and 51 percent for priests. The final summer prediction turns into a video of the dogs, including one wearing a little hat.

As heard by us

A bow-tie gag becomes a Joe's Pub status game, with Todd Glass and Scott Aukerman keeping the chemistry loose.

Scott Aukerman opens with Todd Glass, and the 31-year friendship gives the episode an easy, familiar rhythm from the start. The 10-timers versus 11-timers joke sets the tone, then the setup moves through a substitute teacher and a psychic with the same loose, playful energy.
