1946 Willys Jeep Confuses Indiana BMV & Listener Questions

April 20, 2023·1 hr 36 min·3 clips
Josh brought the Willys back to his home. That small update gives the group a clean way back in after the break, with Ted catching himself saying viewer questions before correcting it to listener questions because the show still is not really a video thing. The Jeep is old. They put it around 77 years, compare it to a grandmother, and laugh through the math that makes 2026 its 80-year mark. There is paperwork too. Ted mentions finding a copy of the original bill of sale, which is exactly the kind of tiny ownership detail that can set off a whole car conversation. Then the listener question takes over. Would a car's reputation or stereotype stop any of them from buying something they liked? Ted is pretty direct. He bought one anyway, then admits he still has not bought a Mustang or a Corvette and wonders whether money matters more than image. The Miata becomes the anchor. It is paid off, cheap, fun, and low maintenance, so he uses it as the test before deciding whether another car really earns its place. A Boxster makes sense to him. It feels like the same basic fun turned up. A Corvette feels more like buying a manual V8 than solving the same problem. Josh comes at it differently. He does not think a stereotype would fully kill a purchase, but BMW gets closest because of the behavior he connects with the badge. His rental story lands the joke. In California, he catches himself using a turn signal and stopping for pedestrians, then realizes how odd that must look from a black convertible BMW. The bit stays grounded. Nobody treats reputation like the whole story, but they keep poking at how public expectation, price, and ownership cost change the appeal. The ending gets weird in the usual way. A DUI tangent turns into jokes about harsh punishments, then lands on the claim that Subaru WRX STI owners are especially likely to receive a DUI. Suddenly the WRX STI joins the list of cars whose image might make someone hesitate, even if the car still sounds fun. Ted closes by thanking listeners, jokes about a possible animal segment after a hippo bit, and leaves it feeling like a listener-question episode that wandered exactly as far as it wanted to.
