The Kr8tom Debate: Clearing the Confusion with KratomNinja- Jordan

·45 min·4 clips

Jordan Richard, a former heroin addict, describes how a Craigslist meeting with kratom saved his life and led to a 12-year recovery journey.

The episode features an interview with Jordan Richard, host of the podcast '3-21 No Kiddin' Gambling Addiction Recovery Podcast', who discusses kratom with guest Jordan Richard, known as KratomNinja. Jordan opens by recounting his history of heroin addiction, including overdoses and a low-speed police chase, leading to a life-changing encounter with kratom via Craigslist. He explains how kratom works in the brain, affecting multiple receptors gently compared to traditional opioids. A major theme is the distinction between natural kratom powder and 7-hydroxy, a synthetic opioid marketed as kratom but linked to addiction and respiratory depression. Jordan debunks common marketing myths about kratom strains, revealing that labels like 'green Thai' are fabricated since Thailand banned export decades ago. He provides resources for learning about kratom, such as the American Kratom Association and his TikTok page. The conversation covers legislative issues, with states banning kratom due to confusion with 7-hydroxy, and Jordan criticizes companies profiting from misleading sales. He addresses safety concerns, noting that natural kratom does not cause respiratory depression, unlike 7-hydroxy, and discusses wrongful death cases often misattributed to kratom. Jordan compares kratom to Suboxone, describing it as a gentler tool for addiction recovery, and emphasizes education and responsible use. The episode concludes with Jordan offering his book for further information and expressing willingness to return for more discussion.
