College World Series Preview + Fantasy Draft

·1 hr 16 min·5 clips

Ben introduces a College World Series preview and a new fantasy baseball game with Noah's rules.

This episode is a College World Series preview combined with a fantasy draft for a new game. Hosts Jack and Noah, joined by their co-host, are prominent voices in the 11Point7 college baseball media space. They are recording from a hotel room in Omaha ahead of the tournament's start. The hosts plan to make their predictions for the College World Series outcomes. They introduce a fantasy baseball game invented by Noah specifically for the College World Series. Noah previously ran a full-season college baseball fantasy league for creators. That prior league featured an all-star cast of college baseball content creators. The winning team in that league was drafted by Ben Upton, Dimitri, and Jack for the "11.7 pre-Noah Benick" squad. Jack claims he individually picked that entire winning team himself. Noah states he finished in second place, 30 points behind the winner. The rules for this new College World Series-specific fantasy game will be explained later. A surprising claim is that Jack won the prior fantasy league without even knowing he was participating in it. The dynamic between Jack and Noah involves playful banter about credit for the prior league victory. The episode captures the immediate anticipation of the hosts traveling to Omaha for the event. The casual setting in a family member's hotel room adds a personal, behind-the-scenes feel. The fantasy game format introduces a competitive layer to their tournament analysis. The tone is highly conversational, relaxed, and filled with friendly rivalry. The style is informal, focusing on camaraderie and insider baseball discussion. Devoted fans of college baseball and the 11Point7 podcast will enjoy the insider preview and the hosts' chemistry. Listeners seeking highly structured analysis or game tape breakdowns might find the episode too casual.
